This is a project of mine I made using a sample from Herbie Hancock’s version of Sting’s track ‘Sister Moon’ that was made with Sting and other instrumentalists as part of his project called ‘Possibilities’, I manipulated the sample to fit the beat for me to add drums how I wanted, once I had the sample track sounding how I wanted, I played some guitar licks over it and then manipulated that as a separate sample building up alongside the sister moon sample as a progression that doesn’t loop but builds for the whole duration of the track as a melody/ lead that evolves as the track does. This idea of combining elements of sampling and live performance has always been of interest to me in the way that one can take a fully finished idea of someone else, and re contextualise it, using it as a basis for another idea. I hope that in the future, younger generations will sample some of my work to re contextualise it to further the ideas.
