I plan to combine some of the ideas and works I’ve been thinking about/ working on in both my sound for screen classes and my studio praxis classes. Recently, I have explored different synthesisers, also the practise of improvisation. Both explorations, I plan to interweave into the re scoring of a scene from ‘2001: a space odyssey’ called ‘beyond the infinite’. I chose this scene because there is a lot of thought and not any dialogue, which I like, and which makes it good for re scoring because a lot can be created, sculpting the audience’s perception of the scene and perception of the protagonists thoughts.
To create the rescore I will sample some of the different synthesis pieces I have made recently (There were parts of the synthesis pieces which I can hear fitting in my head and which I have tried already in protools, which I think fit quite well), as well as improvising some more layers whilst watching the scene along, to tie together the samples from other pieces. I will also use various field recordings I have made recently, to create a strange sense of space and a sense of deep contemplation about reality and meaning.
