Now that I have (almost) finished the creation of my audio paper, I feel as though I have recognised the difficulty of a task that I had initially assumed would not be too hard.
I had figured that because I already know all the information I want to talk about, and because I am constantly researching this topic and its influential members, as well as having ideas for many things I could sample and include in my audio paper.
The aspect of the audio paper that I found the most difficult was firstly the recording of my voice, as I am not a very confident speaker, and do not particularly use my voice often, as a musician/ producer, I feel much more comfortable expressing through straight sound and music, and this is where I spend all my energy and attention, instead of speaking. So this was firstly very difficult for me to get out the words to say what I wanted to say in a clear and concise way, in order to fit in the 10 minutes, while still having space for all the interview samples and clips of other audio that I wanted to include.
Keeping the audio paper short and concise and deciding which information to keep in and which to keep out was the second problem I encountered, as I soon realised there were so many influential figures and important people to mention, that I did not have enough time to mention all the people that deserved mentions. As well as this there was also a lot of other information that I wanted to include that I didn’t have enough time to. To overcome this issue, I had to go with my intuition n choice of what top include and what not to, in order to give the message I am focusing on, in a creative yet concise way. Also I had to reflect on the purpose of this audio paper, which was not to give a complete history of the movement of splayed, however to give a short background to my particular angle and perspective on this movement and the initial history and influences that come to mind for me as a 21 year old born in 2000.
