The update for the proposal after considering space and other installations in the gallery, the oracle room idea was combined into the basement room with my course mates Dhruv and Elliot, to create an ongoing, ever changing and evolving sound room which we titled “Ongoing investigation into the oracle of sound” as an experimental improvisation between me Dhruv & Elliot and visitors of the room that feel to take part and contribute some sounds through the means we provided.
The idea for the room was to create a sense of a work in progress with no specified destination or goal other than exploration itself. This places more focus on the journey of the creation than any finished creation itself.
From what I witnessed and heard from others during the opening weekend, this went to plan and was more popular than expected. There were naturally many musicians at the exhibition (due to the nature of it being sound based) which meant that there were many sonic contributions to the sounds in the improvisation room, with people of all different sound areas and skill levels playing the instruments we had set up there, as well as various vocalists improvising on the microphone over the improvised instrumental sounds.
