I have been very busy in the past few weeks performing many shows with friends of mine, such as a sound arts show with singer/ musician ‘nwakke’ performing live improvised singing over the set, a SPEW & friends live improvisation show (which was myself and Tony Bontana as ‘SPEW’ and various musical collaborators (& friends) of ours who came and improvised with us live, a set dj’ing and performing live effects on my SP-404 sampler for my friend nwakke who had a set of her own, and also doing the same for another friend of mine Archi Silas. I have also been preparing for some upcoming sets such as a set with my friend Jaso, and a set with my friend Angel Seka for shows they have been booked for this month.
I have also been busy with preparation for the 6th edition of the shows titled ‘Splayworld’ which I organise bi-monthly with my friend Tony Bontana. As well as the organisation and promotion of these shows, I will also be dj’ing and running live effects on the instrumentals for various performances on the night.
in addition to all this work for live shows, I have also been spending a lot of time creating music outside of my regular music production patterns of making beats for rappers/ singers and working more on music for myself and focusing on the type of music I find the most enjoyment in creation and existence. This music is often improvised, and often instrument focused rather than relying heavily on samples (as I often do in my more hip-hop side of production).
