I found this guest lecture very inspiring, in Christina’s approach to sound, art, performance and exploration. It was very interesting for me to hear about her journey in sound art and in her artistic practice as a whole. One particular part at the end of the lecture, she said that her standards for performance are to expand beyond her comfort zone, to be searching and exploring. She then went on to speak about how the majority of her work currently is based in inquiry, and not in the sense of 1 + 1 = 2, but inquiry in asking questions to observe. She used the analogy of listing up rocks to look what is under them and then looking under different rocks, and asking questions, such as why are they the way they are, as well as what is under them. This idea to follow paths and find inspiration in natural process of inquiry, was very insightful into her thoughts and process. I resonate with this idea of exploration and I feel that I wish to explore in this way and move into the unknown.
