collaboration – putting together the video

Due to only receiving the video clip (for our collaboration unit hand in) in the week of the hand in, it meant that we did not have much time that we were all free to sit down in person to put the sounds together. To overcome and work around this, we had to just send the clip back and fourth, each adding to it and layering, and mixing as we go along. This is obviously not ideal, however I feel that we have managed to do fairly well considering, and I think the sounds in the clip work well with it.

Arranging the sounds with the clip also allowed me to compare how I thought the sounds would fit/ feel in the world of the game, compared with how they actually sounded and felt.

One issue with this process is that after listening over and over again to layered sounds, knowing of course that it is a separate sound to the game, it can be hard to try and take in the video and sound with a blank objective mind, as to whether or not the sounds are feeling natural or not with the clip. We do not want the players to hear the sound and hear the disconnect between the audio and visual stimuli, as this will make them think of this and will take away from the immersion in the game, ideally we want them to not even consciously think about the sounds their heading, but for the sounds to still be taken in and have their desired effect, however after looking at the video more objectively, I think that we managed to do a pretty good job.
