guest lecture reflections

over the duration of my time at LCC, we have had some interesting guest lectures come and talk about their practices, some of which I found very useful and some less, but still interesting. I found that when the guest lectures started to be in person it was much more engaging than watching on laptop screen.

I found the lecture by a recent guest Dereck Baron to be very interesting, in hearing about his way of thinking, being inspired by historic art, judaic mysticism, and many other things outside of music and seemingly unrelated. I found it fascinating hearing about their chain of thoughts that led them to decide to do the various projects they did.

It’s very interesting to see people who have managed to make a living from sound arts, which still seems like such an impossible task, but it shows the dedication they must have put in to make it work, and the passion to be doing it either way, very inspiring for me to keep going with my work and my experimentations, and hope that I can find a way to make a living doing what I love as long as I keep doing it.
