question/ point for audio paper

Ive been trying to narrow down the specifics of my question for my audio paper in order to have a singular point of focus that I will be proving or arguing for.

My question at the moment is ‘How did the free jazz movement of the 60’s expand the perception of music, and more generally; expression in art?’

I want to talk about/ try prove my point about the impact that listening to Avant Garde music (free-jazz & avant-garde jazz in particular) has had on peoples perceptions of music, and art more generally, and how these perceptions have been expanded by this music’s ventures into new terrains and new ideas outside of what was previously thought of as possible/ acceptable, and how this music has challenged the preconceived notions of possibilities in expression. I believe that the expression of feelings that aren’t so simple or harmonious is vital in art and plays an important role in the idea of freedom in art, the freedom to venture where one likes and to express true feeling.
