Thinking about my professional future, I have been looking at various opportunities and possibilities for my post grad life as a sound artist.
One of the 3 opportunities I will write about for my professional futures hand-in is the main project I’m currently focused on. It is an experimental theatre production I have co-written with a friend, that we plan to carry out towards the end of the year. Originally we were going to work with the budget that we had to do what we could, however upon realising the potential of the piece, and the people we want to be involved (and wanting them to be fairly paid), we have decided to work on a proposal for an Arts Council open-fund grant to fund the project.
If successful, this grant will allow us to realise the project to its full potential on a large scale, with everyone paid above London living wage, for both rehearsals and performance. It will also mean we will be able to focus solely on this project during the period we have planned, as we will be getting paid and not needing to work our part-time jobs during these months.
It will allow me and everyone else involved to gain valuable experience in putting on this show, as well as being a large scale important piece of art that will launch the careers of many involved.
