the most vital part of my future aspirations is my plan to create a record label called life is beautiful records. This plan is already in action, and I have already signed 6 people outside of myself to start this project with me, and created a logo and website. The 6 people on the label, are all spiritual warriors of mine (close friends and collaborators, all 6 are some of my favourite people to make music with and also just favroutie people in general). The founding roster includes: nwakke (a good friend of mine and very talented artist/ producer/ singer/ dancer/ performance artist), jaso (another good friend and incredible singer/ musician/ artist), Abi Asisa (an incredible cello player, friend, singer and multi instrumentalist), Bianca Scout (a wonderful musician/ singer/ dancer/ performance artist & friend), isaiahull (a good friend, poet, artist & rapper) and the narrator aka Amber Joy (an incredible writer/ artist/ singer/ graphic designer/ choreographer & very close friend and close collaborator of mine). the narrator is also the appointed artistic director of the label, as well as being an artist on the label, she has played and will continue to play a vital role in this plan for the label, as she is a true spiritual warrior, with ambitions and dreams as wild as mine, and determination to bring these ideas into the real world.
My plan for this label is to apply for funding as much as I can, while building an album called life is beautiful, with all 7 founding members. With the funding I will then host a label launch party with performances by people from the label, and friends of ours, and at this launch we will also launch the album and sell a limited run of vinyls of the album. By the time of the launch I wish to have all media assets ready such as graphics, website finished to a high standard, social media and YouTube ready, and stickers and merchandise already ready also to sell at the launch event.
In the meantime till then I will continue a radio show I have in the name already ‘the life is beautiful show’ and also start doing a series of events under the same name ‘the life is beautiful show’. I have already started planning the first of these shows, which will take place in early July, with a 1 hour headline improvisation based set by the whole of life is beautiful, incorporating some elements of some peoples songs, as well as some straight improvisation, and some performance art & storytelling. To open the night there will also be DJ sets, as well as a special guest performance by an artist called Coby Sey, who is someone I much look up to, which will be an honour to have him there.
I believe very deeply in these 6 people I have invited into this project, and I think we can take this idea very far together, and currently this is what I want more than anything (to develop this project, and carry it out to the standard I know it is worth).
