Future aspirations: aloisius

My future aspirations as an artist (aloisius) are currently to carry out this album ‘life is beautiful’ which I spoke on in the last blog post I did, and to complete that album to the highest possible standard. This project will be executively produced by me, however also featuring some production work by others from the label.

I also have a few other projects as aloisius I plan to work on, such as a project for an experimental theatre piece called ‘I wish for you’ (by the narrator & myself), which we will distribute via usb sticks given out at the show. I am also working on an album which will be one of my portfolio pieces, called the unfolding rose, which is an album I have been working on for over a year, made from voice notes I’ve taken in different places and situations of improvisation, some by myself and some with others, these voice notes were then sampled and layered.

I also have 2 projects with my friend Abi Asisa, which I plan on developing to release on life is beautiful once they are finished, one of them is a 53 minute piece made from improvisations we did the first time we had a session, it is mostly cello and classical guitar with some keys and other sounds also. We also have another project which is more like an EP, of songs we’ve made together, which we plan to get various vocalists on, and which Abi might do some vocals on herself.

I also have another idea for a project also with Abi, made from voice notes of me playing various piano’s which I want to get Abi to record cello on, as I think a project of straight piano and cello would be beautiful and very emotive.

I have another project with nwakke, which is just a compilation of songs we’ve made together over the past couple years which never came out, it is planned to be a quite low-key release, casually titled ‘some songs I made with aloisius’.

I am also working on various other projects with people such as isaiahull, the narrator, and jaso.

Outside of these projects my plans for aloisius is just to keep on developing my sound, honing in on my skills, and continuing to find spiritual warriors to work with. I am already very happy with the circle of musicians I am working with from life is beautiful, however I am also open to some new people, such as James Massiah, a poet I very much look up to, who has said he wants to have a session soon which I’m very much excited about.
